
Due to impending storms, all after school activities are cancelled Tuesday, 1/9 and Wednesday, 1/10. As an additional precaution, schools will open with a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, 1/10/24. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to monitor the situation.


January 8th-12th, We have a casual for a cause for $1 on Monday to support the loss of a student at CHS with the theme of Pink in her honor. Parent/Teacher Conferences are 4 to 6 pm, No tutoring. Our AHA fundraiser starts on Friday! Info will be coming home then. We are collecting tabs! Pop 'em and send them in!


Ms. Finley in 3rd Grade had her artwork chosen to be the cover of Somerset County Public School's Holiday Card! We are proud that her artwork was chosen among other entries in the county. Congratulations and Happy Holidays!


Happy New Year! This short week includes Wednesday- Rock Creek after school church group Friday-PJ or FREE CASUAL for all and our December incentive/class parties. On Monday the 8th are parent/teacher conferences. Reach out to your student's teacher to schedule!

Due to continued flooding and unsafe conditions, schools are closed tomorrow, Tuesday December 19, 2023 for students, teachers and 12 month staff. Winter Break begins Wednesday, December 20. Schools reopen Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Have a safe and happy winter break!


The Christmas Lights event tonight has been cancelled for our 5th grade students. We are hoping to get photos of the lights in the area and have students judge in class tomorrow. Thank you.

We have two more days of school until Winter Break! No Tutoring or Church this week. Monday is a free casual day, festive hair themed. The 5th graders are staying after school to go judge the local Christmas Lights. Tuesday is our last day of the month and our monthly incentive! It is a free casual day: pajama themed!

Thank you for those who came out to shop and support our local vendors! Thank you to the vendors who were patient and kind with our young shoppers today! As well as our High School Volunteers to help wrap the presents. Our ABC, 123 Learning event was also successful today! Please send any photos to Mrs. Kari Pusey at kpusey@somerset.k12.md.us. If you couldn't make it, games and activities' will be sent home for you! Lastly, tomorrow is a FREE casual day and we are donning our Ugly Sweaters/Shirts! Look out for mid-terms tomorrow!

Here are our new DIS vocabulary words of the week! In an effort to improve our vocabulary usage across all grade levels, we have created these vocabulary cards for our school and families to use at home and in the classroom. We encourage you each week to try to incorporate our DIS word(s) of the week into your conversations at home. This week's words are inspired by the Disney movie, " Frozen" Thank you for your continued effort in supporting our students' education!


Thurs is our Prek/K "Learn with Me" event as well as our Christmas Bazaar. Please invite all to come shop! Friday is a free casual day: Ugly Sweater themed. Midterms are coming home.
The 18th and 19th are also free casual days and no tutoring after school.
We are closed Dec 20th until January 2nd, reopen the 3rd.

Our Christmas Bazaar is in ONE week! Next Thursday, students have scheduled times to go shopping. Guests are welcome to come down to go shopping with their student. This is a cash only event!


Our Christmas concert was a huge success! Thanks so much to all the families and community members who came out to watch our children sing. Washington High was a gracious host filled with an amazing staff and student volunteers! Thank you to our special guest volunteers and to Roadie Joe's of Salisbury/Berlin for loaning us the Bigfoot costume. Thank you to the Somerset County Arts Council for supplying our instruments. Lastly, thanks to our Deal Island staff for working so hard with our students for this performance!!
