Public Meeting Notice: The January 2024 meeting of the Somerset Board of Education
has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 31, 2024, 4pm Closed / 6pm Open.


Due to freezing overnight temperatures and potential for icy road conditions tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, schools will open with a 2-hour delay for students, teachers and staff. FNS & essential staff report on time / when safe.


Due to expected inclement weather this evening, Tuesday, January 16, all after school activities are canceled. The regular meeting of the Somerset Board of Education has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 25: 4PM Closed Session, 6PM Open Session.

Earlier in the week, SCPS held the first National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) cohort meeting for teachers pursuing certification in 2024. Recent NBCT recipients, Anna Breland of CHS, and Zachary Bartemy of SCTHS, attended to share their experiences pursuing certification in 2023; offering valuable insights, encouragement and Q&A time for this year's cohort of SCPS educators pursuing certification. Hazardous road conditions continue to pose safety concerns for school buses at low tide today. As a result, schools will be closed for an asynchronous virtual school day tomorrow, Thursday, January 11, 2024. Essential & 12 month staff should report to their buildings by 8:30 AM.


We are hosting a Science Night on January 18th! RSVP's were sent home Monday and are due on Friday! Any submissions or requests after Friday can not be accommodated. Don't miss out!

We have gained some NEW staff members since the start of the school year! We seperated our Prek 3 and Prek 4 class and gained Ms. Justice as our Prek4 teacher while Mrs. Stevens continues to teach Prek3. Prek3 has gained two assistants! Our previous staff member Mrs. Mayo has joined the Prek3 team as well as our newcomer Mrs. Travers! We are so lucky to have these ladies join our team!




Schools will dismiss early today, Tuesday 1/9: Secondary at 11:30 a.m. and Elementary at 12:30 p.m. Tomorrow, Wednesday 1/10, schools are closed for an asynchronous virtual school day. The shelter at Washington High School opens at 5:00 PM today. Be safe!
