The Nao Trinidad, a replica of Magellan's 16th Century Spanish Flag Ship was recently at Somers Cove Marina in Crisfield. 2nd and 4th grade students from Greenwood Elementary had the opportunity to board the explorer ship and learn what life was like for a crew member!

Somerset Intermediate School students took a field trip to Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore's BizTown today. Students participated in a business community simulation. Each student was assigned a company, job and duties to perform! Many thanks to JA and volunteers from the Eastern Shore business community for creating such an interactive and engaging space for students to learn and be inspired!

Last week, award winning illustrator and Washington High School graduate, Bryan Collier visited Princess Anne & Greenwood Elementary Schools to share his story of success (after many failures) and his favorite children's story, "Knock Knock. My Dad's Dream for Me" by Daniel Beaty, illustrated by Bryan Collier.
Students had the opportunity to ask Mr. Collier questions about his work at the end of the assemblies. Bryan shared with students "Everyone is an artist. Everything is possible." Thank you, Mr. Collier for sharing your impactful story with our students!

Congratulations to Ms. Jennifer Jones, Special Subjects Teacher at Deal Island Elementary School, for being recognized by Kappa Delta Pi: Rho Eta Chapter of Salisbury University as an alumni who embodies the ideals of professional development, community service, and leadership in her career on the Eastern Shore! She received her award at the recent E. Pauline Riall Lecture Dinner.



Recently students from 11th &12th grades visited Atlantic Tractor and Piedmont Airlines. Both companies have great on the job training programs. We are looking forward to working with these companies to promote the Trades Industry. Special thanks to Mr. Ward for the connection.

Today students at Princess Anne Elementary were part of Home Grown School Lunch Week, trying new foods like locally grown callalou and other fresh ingredients in a "Tropical Somerset Salad!" Fresh produce was supplied by Somerset County's Wood Duck Landing Farm and Tallawah Farms in SCPS new Farm-to-School partnership, bringing more fresh produce into school cafeterias.
