The closed session of the May 16, 2023 Regular Meeting of the Somerset Board of Education has been rescheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Open session will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Monday our Maui Jack's permission slips are due with cash for those who wish to chaperone. It is also our Parent/Teacher Conference night from 4pm to 6pm. Teachers have reached out on dojo to schedule.
Wednesday we have After School Church and Thursday we have after school 4H. 4H is filled and cannot accept any new applicants.
Friday we have casual for $1. Prek/K is putting on a concert for their families at 2.
Prek will not have school Monday, May 22nd.
Lastly, we are asking for donations of bottled water for our end of the year events! Students are extra thirsty as the weather is getting warmer and we have a few outside events planned. We appreciate any donation, no matter how small! Thank you!
The second Friday in May is National School Communicators Day! A school communicator is one who assists schools and districts in telling their story. Today we are celebrating all of our #TeamSCPS storytellers: from our designated staff photographers, webmasters and social media managers in each school to the administrators developing communication plans and strategies. Ladies and Gentlemen! I introduce to you our 2023 Field Day for Deal Island!!
We are having multiple activities all day long! We are also having our Scholastic Book Fair this week as well and it'll will be open during the day for families to shop. Students have assigned color tops to wear based on grade level. 5th-Gray, 4th-Green, 3rd-Purple, 2nd-Red, 1st is Blue and Prek/K is yellow. We also ask students send in their sunscreen and bug spray to be re-applied during the school day. Most activities finish around 2 pm and breaks are built into the schedule. If you bring any small family members or non-DIS students, we just ask that you monitor those children at all times. Thank you!
2023 Graduating Seniors that attended Deal Island Elementary School are welcome to come down and parade the school and be celebrated by our current students.

Earth day is Saturday! We have a bin outside the library door to recycle plastic bags. Ms. Jones has also requested other recyclable materials as well to use in Art and the Makerspace. We are no longer collecting bottle caps and hope to start our mural on Monday! Do something good for the earth this weekend! 🌎

Summer School registration is now open!! The school sites are at PAES and GES but transportation is provided!
If you login to your powerschool account and click on Forms to complete the form to register for Summer School. Any questions, please call the school.
Tomorrow is picture day and CASUAL FOR ALL, even if you're not purchasing pictures. Families can also order online using www.strawbridge.net and code FM397847 for group photos and FM397845 for individual photos.
