First Day of School

Tuesday, September 2, 2025: First day for Pre-K students, students new to their school (lowest incoming grade), and students in comprehensive special education classrooms.

Join us on Thursday, August 28, 2025 for the "Ready. Set. SCHOOL!" Back-to-School Block Party & Community Resource Fair!

  • Location: Somerset County Board of Education, Westover, MD

  • Time: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

  • Details: Music by BayCountry, family fun, games, community resource partners, and more!

  • Transportation: Shuttle service will be provided from your child’s Open House to the event at the Board of Education.

PowerSchool Parent Portal: Annual Student Forms

All guardians/parents must log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal to complete the annual forms for each enrolled student:

  • Login to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and click "Forms"

  • You must review and update:

    • Student transportation form

    • Parent/guardian contact information

    • A valid, working email address is required to receive your student’s bus route assignment

PowerSchool Parent Portal Help

Bus route information will be emailed to families in early August.

A working email address is essential for receiving your student's personalized transportation information. Please complete the Student Transportation Form and verify your contact information in PowerSchool.

Download the SCPS mobile app to stay connected:

  • Click to learn about and download the SCPS App

  • In-app access to Rooms, SCPS' teacher-to-home communication platform

ROOMS Access Instructions:

  • Returning students/guardians: No action needed unless the app was deleted or you logged out. Visit your mobile app store to reinstall & log in.

  • Newly enrolled students and unconnected returning students: Alerts to set up Rooms will be sent by text/email. Make sure your contact information is accurate in PowerSchool!
