Students will explore the culture and country of Colombia,, the setting for the Disney movie, "Encanto", through food, art, stories and language.

“Hands On History”

July 11th-July 14th Monday - Thursday

CAHS

Students will look at local history and culture by getting involved in local cemetery clean-ups, local history/ cemetery scavenger hunts, metal detecting, compass scavenger hunts, history tours led by the Crisfield Heritage Foundation, crabbing, and kayaking the waterways.

Students will explore the world around them by taking a look at the Earth, the animals, the human body, the world they can't see (microscopic) and "Things That Go Boom!" Each student will get a kit containing a magnifying glass, tweezers, goggles, and an observation journal to investigate and record their data. 

“Smartphone Photography”

July 11th-July 21st Monday - Thursday

Students will learn basic elements of composition in photography and demonstrate their knowledge by taking photographs with their cellphones. After learning the elements each morning, the class will take walking tours in the neighborhood. On the final day each student will receive one of their best 8x10 photos for them to keep.

Students will take on the role of novice Crime Scene Investigators while solving a series of crimes! They will learn crime science investigation techniques and forensic science skills through hands-on lab experiences and case studies. Students will wrap up their two-week investigation by reporting evidence in a mock trial as an expert witness.

“Fun with Sculpture"

July 11th-July 21st Monday - Thursday 8:30-1:30

Students will go on an adventure in sculpture. We will be experimenting with different  mediums to create sculptural artworks throughout the week.  Students will learn how to manipulate plaster, clay, recycled materials, and everyday objects during this camp.

We will be exploring oceans by studying the structure of oceans, marine life, and environmental issues.  We will be completing different oceanography experiments and activities as well as a field trip to learn more about oceans and marine life.
