Inclement Weather Virtual Day Plan
On February 15, 2022, the Somerset Board of Education approved the Somerset Inclement Weather Virtual Day plan. On February 16, 2022, Somerset County Public Schools submitted this plan and received approval from the Maryland State Department of Education to proceed with inclement weather - virtual school day conversions. The plan submission and the approval letter from the State is in the attached .pdf file below.
Staff in our schools are working to prepare students and families in the event of a closure due to inclement weather for a virtual school day from home. When inclement weather is expected, students will be sent home with their learning devices in preparation for a virtual school day. Students will receive at minimum 4 hours of synchronous instruction on virtual inclement weather days. Families needing assistance with internet access should contact their child's school to reserve a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Please look for information from your student's school regarding schedules and instructions in the event of a virtual school day.
