Four Teachers Recognized by Baxter Enterprises-Receive McEducator Award

Each year, Baxter Enterprises recognizes four elementary teachers within Somerset County Public Schools for consistently planning and implementing engaging lessons that motivate the students and making connections for them and who lead and/or participate in several activities for students beyond their course requirements and the school day. These educators miss five or fewer sick/personal days during the school year and have intentionally developed positive relationships with parents. Click on the title for more information.

Wellness Activity Site Winners and Individual Winners Announced

At the Staff Recognition activity on June 15, 2016, Human Resources Generalist Paige Larmore announced, "As the majority of you know, SCPS participated in the CareFirst WalkingWorks program again this year. This 10-week program is a friendly walking competition between our school locations, and this year we had 150 walkers participate throughout the county. All participants together walked a total of 34,281 miles, which is back and forth from DC to San Francisco six times and an overall average of 229 miles per walker." This year Somerset County had seven individuals who represented their schools as Teachers of the Year. They are Lynn Blake, David Edwards, Jensen Long, Kolby Noble, Laura Perry, Toni Stewart-Brown and Ginger Wilson. (Click on the title for more information on each candidate.) Student Board Members Recognized

At its May meeting, the Somerset County Board of Education presented certificates of appreciation to the CHS senior Board Representative and to the WHS senior Board Representative.
