Nationally Known Individuals Visit Deal Island Elementary School to Recognize Fundraising done on behalf of Children with Cancer

Mr. Scott and Mrs. Davies visited the school on June 7 because Deal Island Elementary School raised the most money during the Great Lemonade War, a nation-wide "competition" to raise money for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, fighting childhood cancer.  The staff, students, and community of Deal Island raised $4,000 this winter.   School principal Ted Gibson said, "I could not be more proud of our  students, community and our phenomenal staff for their efforts to not only cover content but focus on the underestimated importance of character."  Gibson Indicated, "Mrs. Noble and  fourth grade teacher Mrs. Michele Messick put on a phenomenal assembly for our honored guests, including 2 songs and a poem recited by the 2nd grade students.  The first song was accompanied by sign language..."  Click on the two links to see more information.
