May 1-7, Children's Mental Health Matters week

fh syj
May 1st-7th is the awareness week for Children's Mental Health Matters. The initiative began as a collaboration between the Mental Health Association of Maryland and Maryland Coalition of Families in an effort to increase awareness and reduce stigma of children's mental health. The campaign has existed for more than 20 years with the support of the Behavioral Health Administration and working together with school and community partners. All SCPS schools have registered to become school champions, which means they will each do at least one activity during this week to promote the importance of children's mental health.

One of the ways that we can show support for children's mental health is by wearing something green on May 5th. Please follow our schools in the first week of May 2022 to see what students may be doing in class to promote the importance of children's mental health.
