SCPS Announces New Supervisor of Special Education, SIS Principal

WESTOVER, MD, May 8, 2020 – Somerset County Public Schools (SCPS) is pleased to announce the recent promotion of former Principal of Somerset Intermediate School (SIS), Mrs. Brandy Brady, to Supervisor of Special Education for the school district. SCPS is also pleased to announce the promotion of former SIS Assistant Principal, Mrs. Elizabeth Berry, to Principal at the intermediate school. The personnel changes will take effect on July 1, 2020.
Brady’s 19 year tenure with SCPS includes serving as a 2nd grade teacher for seven years, Reading Coach for three years, Teacher-in-Charge for one year, principal for one year at Deal Island School, and for the past 7 years as principal at SIS. Brady lives in Westover with her husband, Matt, and three daughters Hannah, Isabelle, and Nora. Brady is a Washington High School graduate, received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's in Educational Leadership from SU, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Wilmington University.
Brady shares, “My professional journey with SCPS has been extremely rewarding. I have had the opportunity to work in various roles at schools around the county, each with unique challenges along with many successes. While it will be hard to leave SIS, I look forward to the opportunity to serve the students and families of Somerset County in a different capacity.”
Berry’s educational career includes teaching for 10.5 years in Accomack and Worcester Counties at the elementary level before joining SCPS, where she is in her 8th year of service. Berry served as an Assistant Principal at Princess Anne Elementary for two years and is currently in her sixth year as Assistant Principal SIS. Berry graduated from Salisbury University in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, and later obtained Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Salisbury University in 2010. Berry lives in Virginia with her husband, Bob and two daughters, Emma and Camille.
Berry shares, “It is an honor and a pleasure to continue to work with my Somerset Intermediate School Family. My goal is to provide a positive middle school experience to all of the Somerset County Students who pass through our doors. I look forward to working with the students, their families as well as our staff through continued collaboration. I aim to work tirelessly to ensure continuity in each and every student’s education during these challenging and ever-changing times.”
