WESTOVER, MD, October 3, 2019 – Somerset County Public Schools recently received a generous donation of teacher classroom supplies from Chesapeake Utilities in Salisbury, MD. The local utility company held an employee giving drive for the month of September and collected several boxes of supplies.
Chesapeake Utilities routinely holds events throughout the year, aptly named “Cares with a Cause,” designed to build employee morale and give back to the communities they serve. The employees chose to hold a back-to-school drive for Somerset County Public School teachers, knowing that educators regularly spend their own funds on supplies for their classroom when school budgets are exhausted.
“Teachers give so much of their time and often spend their own money to provide a quality education to the students in our community,” said Ellen Davies, Operations Assistant at Chesapeake Utilities. “We wanted to show educators in Somerset County that we care about and recognize their efforts in the classroom and beyond.”
(L-R) Dr. Gaddis, Superintendent and Tracie Bartemy, Director of Schools for Somerset County, gratefully receive several boxes of teacher classroom supplies from Ellen Davies, Operations Assistant II, Joshua Denham, District Gas Operations Manager and Shane Breakie, Assistant Vice President of Chesapeake Utilities.
