General Facts

Somerset County, with a population of approximately 26,273, is located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and is the state's most southern county.  The Chesapeake Bay forms its western boundary and Virginia its southern boundary.  The Board of Education is located in Westover, approximately seven miles south of Princess Anne, the county seat. The ten public schools include one technology & career center, two high schools, an alternative school,  an intermediate school, and five elementary schools. Two of the ten schools, J.M. Tawes Technology and Career Center and the Somerset Promise Academy receive students from the other schools.
