2015-2016 SCPS' Bus Routes Announced

The Somerset County Board of Education has announced that all schools will open for students on Monday, August 24, 2015. Regarding bus routes, adjustments may have to be made after the opening of school because of overloading, safety and efficiency. Pupils are urged to be at their bus stop early on opening day, after which a definite scheduling pattern will be established. Parents-The School System Needs Your Assistance! Complete and Return attached Form

Somerset County Public Schools applies for a number of Federal Grants each year. Applying for grants requires us to provide information on the income status of our community. This is done by compiling information on all families on the attached form. The individual forms will be filed at the Board Office and not used for any other purpose. All SCPS families please click on the title above and then click on the PDF file. The file contains a letter of explanation, a Data Collection for Grant Applications form and an explanation form. Read the PDF file. Complete the second attached form which is a Word document and return to your student's school or email the completed form to hriggins@somerset.k12.md.us. Write Grant Data Form in the subject section of the email. Only complete one form per household. Thank you.

Special Permission to Attend School Out of Attendance Zone

An examination of the reconfiguration of grades at Princess Anne Elementary School and Greenwood Elementary School uncovered that "special permission" requests for student transfers was a factor contributing to capacity concerns. Therefore, it was necessary to re-examine the criteria for "special permission" approval. Parents and guardians are reminded that any and all requests for their child to transfer schools must be submitted in writing to the Superintendent by July 10, 2015. Hard copies of this letter can be picked up at the office of the student's home school. Due to the roof construction at Greenwood Elementary School, those parents can pick up a hard copy of the letter at the front office of Princess Anne Elementary School.
