HEAD BASKETBALL COACH

WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL

October 30, 2002

SALARY: As specified by Somerset County Public Schools

QUALIFICATION:

• Demonstrate ability to organize and manage all aspects of the program.
• Must have completed basic athletic training courses or equivalency.
• Ability to relate well to students and move the program forward in a positive and productive manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand and cooperate with the rules and regulations set forth by the MPSSAA, Bayside Conference, and Somerset County.
• Keep abreast of the academic performance of each squad member by maintaining a channel of communication with each of the player's teachers and the guidance department.
• Inform team members, establish and enforce guidelines pertaining to conduct, school rules, training rules, safety regulations and sportsmanship at all contests and practices.
• Maintain accurate records and provide all necessary reports to the appropriate personnel (ie: Principal, Athletic Director, or Guidance Counselor) on or before the established deadlines.
• Provide supervision at all practices and athletic contests, and report to these events in a prompt and consistent manner.
• Attend appropriate meetings pertaining to basketball (ie: rules interpretation clinics, district meetings, and/or coaches' meetings).
• Distribute and collect the schools athletic equipment before, during and after season, as well being responsible for equipment used during all practices and athletic contests.
• Conduct oneself in a manner that is conducive to good sportsmanship and representation of the school and school system.
