ALTERNATIVE TO SUSPENSION MONITORS

SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION OF CLASSIFICATION:
An employee in this position under the supervision of the Alternative Learning Supervisor is responsible for behavior modification of students assigned to ISS. They are also responsible for tutoring and counseling students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational Requirements - A high school diploma or equivalency is required. A four year degree is preferred.
Training and Experience Requirement - At least 2 years of experience working with elementary school age children.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Ability to work with children of various backgrounds.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of personalities.
- Ability to maintain classroom conduct.
- Knowledge of computer.
- Must be available to attend meetings and workshops.
- Must be available to attend after-school activities.
- Must be available to attend field trips.
- Must have thorough knowledge of school policies and procedures.
- Must be available to assist case managers when needed.
- Must be available to assist case managers with student records.
DUTIES:
- Direct Behavior Modification Activities in ATS..
- Provide an inviting atmosphere for students.
- Provide positive feedback for difficult students.
- Tutor and counsel students.
- Assist case manager with student files and etc. when needed.
- Other assigned duties by the Alternative Learning Supervisor.
