Projected Opening Date is September 2006

Staffing Timeline:

Administrative Positions will be announced by Dec. 1, 2005 and assigned by Jan. 2, 2006

Staff Positions will be announced by Feb. 1, 2006 and assigned by March 30, 2006

Family Design:

The school will have 2 groups or families of K-5 classes in order to foster a sense of small schools within a larger school.

Assignment of Teachers to each Family Team:

bulletStaff will be assigned by the building principal and the supervisor of Elementary Education.

Each family team will have staff with

- Varying levels of experience

- Varying strengths

- Varying subject area preferences and interests

- Varying extracurricular interests

Every effort will be made to develop a schedule and/or process that promotes grade level as well as team planning time.

 

Assignment of Students to each Family Team:

Both Family Teams will have achieving and struggling students.

bullet

Both Family Teams will have special education students.

bullet

The intent is that the student will remain on the same team K-5 BUT changes will be made based on teacher and/or parent input to the building principal.

Students will most likely be mixed teams for recesses and specials.

Communication Link:

bulletWritten updates will go to all staff on a weekly basis beginning September, 2005.
bulletDr. Brofee and other administrators will be available at several PTO meetings throughout the year.
bulletDr. Brofee will schedule parent-community "coffees".
bulletThere will be informal dialogue throughout the year.
