Somerset County Public Schools chose to centralize
an intermediate school of 6th and 7th graders. It will be a
technologically oriented school which will be a model for other
Maryland Schools. This new Intermediate School will be a new school
built on the same site as the Tawes Technology Center.
The proposed school will have a design capacity of
472 students, and be expandable to 600 students. The proposed
building area for the new Intermediate School, as presented and
budgeted for in the Fiscal Year 2006 CIP, is 68,400 s.f. This may be
subject to change upon review of the educational specifications by
the state.
