Welcome to the Somerset County Public Schools Website!

It is my pleasure as the Superintendent of Schools to greet you and invite you to come to know us both "virtually" through this website and genuinely with a visit to one of our classrooms or schools. Somerset County Public Schools are true gemstones on the Eastern Shore, each of the ten with its own personality and all bound in the common thread of a quietly, beautiful rural setting where individuals matter. There is always time to hear a story, share a dream, and help a friend, whether you are a student, parent, teacher, grandparent, staff member or administrator.

Somerset County Public Schools is a system with the long standing motto of "Success-- Nothing Less," that we are striving to learn to live more fully and appropriately. Success comes in many shapes and sizes; we seek to be diligent in our students' needs from all angles. In fulfilling our motto of success:

	We are led to academically assure that "No Child Is Left Behind" and have crafted a detailed Master Plan to guide our steps in accomplishing that goal. (I invite you to come to know our Master Plan. It describes what we want for our children, how we will achieve it, and how we will know that we have done it well. You may access the plan through this website and you also may become an active contributor by joining a school and community action team.)
	We are lead to assure environments conducive to learning that are safe, small, and personal settings that consistently offer respect, understanding, and challenge. Come visit our schools; you will be captivated!
	We are led to hire and maintain quality teachers who are experts in their field of study and in the art of teaching. Somerset has outstanding teachers who are schooled and experienced in the best classroom practices as well as continuous learners themselves.

As I look throughout our county's schools, I see a teaching, administrative, and parenting population committed to children, cooperation with one another, respectful of all, and tireless in their efforts to make the Somerset educational experience all that it can be for each child. Somerset County Public Schools are defined by our staff: people dedicated to making each profound, positive differences in the lives of their students, one by one.
